Voting Results Are In!

BEST SOUTHWEST, TX – This weekend citizens of the Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville and Lancaster came out and voted in the local elections held on May 7, 2016.
In Cedar Hill the results are as follows: Incumbent Mayor Rob Franke ran unopposed. Wallace Swayse took Council Member Place 3 and Stephen Mason won Council Member Place 5.
The City of DeSoto has a new mayor, Curtistene S. McCowan. She is replacing Mayor Carl Sherman who termed out for the position of Mayor. For council member place 3, Deshaundra ‘Lockhart’ Jones won over incumbent Kristine Clark. For council member place 5 incumbent Richard (Dick) North retained his position. For Council member place 6 which was vacated by Curtistene S. McCowan, the winner was Candice Quarles. For DeSoto ISD Place 1 Carl Sherman Jr. ran unopposed and Place 2 Kathy Goad was victorious over incumbent Vandous Stripling.
For the City of Duncanville, Mayor Green won with 63% of the vote over Mark Cooks who has run for this position twice. Incumbents Stephen Rutherford, District 2 and Dr. Ron Dotson, District 4 also won.
For Lancaster ISD District 6 incumbent Robbie Johnson won
Voter turnout was low in Dallas County, out of 1,067,080 only 59,887 ballots were cast meaning only a 5.61% voter turnout.
