DUNCANVILLE, TX – Congratulations to Oluremi Fadahunsi-Ojo (math tutor, grant writer) and Tara Flatt-Ferguson (Special Education) as recipients of a grant from the Texas Retired Teachers Association to fund their Build-a-Rain-Barrel Project. Fifteen grants were awarded Tuesday, March 28th during the 64th Annual TRTA Convention in Austin, TX.

The two teachers will create the Build-A Rain Barrel project, using their funds to buy a 330 gallon barrel, compost pin, gardening gloves, notebooks and seed/plant starters for the school garden. This project will allow the garden to receive water all year long, even during the summer months.

The presentation to the teachers with a check for $500 will be conducted by Carolyn Lance, Texas Retried Teachers Foundation director next month. Ms. Lance will be making the presentations during the local TRTA unit meetings when possible. Our May DARSE (Duncanville Area Retired School Employees) meeting will be the 9th.
