Support Our Police on National Night Out

On Tuesday, October 6, 2015, the City of Duncanville is planning a single city-wide event for National Night Out. It will be held at the Duncanville Field House located at 1700 S. Main Street from 5:00 to 8:30pm.
Over the past year our nation has seen police officers put under a lot of scrutiny. I believe the citizens of Duncanville should show our support for our police department and for the job that they do on a daily basis. We can do this by supporting the city wide event on October 6th. By showing this support for our police department we are also showing how we feel about our homes and neighborhoods.
In 1981 the creators of National Night Out had two main objectives… for “individual neighborhoods to send a message to those criminals who would make them victims that they were not going to take it anymore. But the larger goal also involved rebuilding a spirit of community cohesiveness that had eroded over time in a society almost too busy to notice it happened. It begged the question: How many of us truly know our neighbors anymore?”
In short, “it is seen as a night when communities banded together and also showed support for local law enforcement.”
