Snuffer’s in Red Oak Hosts Benefit Night to Support Local School

GroupShieldsRED OAK, TX – Snuffer’s Restaurant & Bar in Red Oak recently hosted a Benefit Night to help rebuild Donald T. Shields Elementary School, which was badly damaged by the tornadoes that swept through the area in December.
On Thursday, Feb. 11, the popular restaurant known for its signature menu of legendary Burgers and famous Cheddar Fries partnered with The Red Oak Lions Club to dedicate 15 percent of sales between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. to the rebuilding effort.
Dozens of community members, who were eager to provide both financial and emotional support for those affected by the tornadoes, attended the event. Also in attendance were Shields Elementary students, who were proudly wearing their school’s color, maroon.
Combined with direct donations and proceeds from the event, Snuffer’s helped raise $738.11 for Red Oak ISD.
“Portions of our district, and Donald T. Shields Elementary in particular, took a big hit recently, but we will bounce back and rebuild thanks to generous people and corporate citizens like Snuffer’s,” said Red Oak ISD Superintendent Dr. J. Scott Niven. “We greatly appreciate the support of the restaurant and its guests, and we look forward to the day when we re-open Shields Elementary for the families it serves.”
The Red Oak Lions Club has been providing essential services, including eye exams and eyeglasses, for Red Oak students in need for over 65 years. The Club also supports other local charities and sponsors ROISD students to attend the Texas Lions Camp for Handicapped Children.
“Snuffer’s was very excited to partner with the Lions Club to help rebuild Shields Elementary,” said Snuffer’s General Manager Marcus Grogan. “We were so proud of our entire community that made it out to show their support.”
