Barbara Jean Simpson Phillips
1932 – January 3, 2016
Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Simpson Phillips retired from the AAFES HQ/ EXCHANGE-Dallas in 1993. She also worked at Texas Instruments.
Longtime resident of Oak Cliff and Cedar Hill, she was active for decades with the Oak Cliff Assembly of God church, later attended Turning Point Church (Fort Worth).
Survived by a host of friends and family: daughter Cathy Wickwire/husband Dr. Jeff Wickwire (Fort Worth); sons Larry Phillips (retired from Duncanville Fire Department) /wife Marian (DeSoto) and Rodney Phillips/wife Sheryll (Colleyville), “adopted” daughter Vivian Shelby/husband Tim (Sachse).
Grand children Jeremy Wickwire, Julia Wickwire, Ethan Phillips, and Emma Phillips. Sister-in-law Cora Simpson (Boise, ID) brother-in- law Stan Kojac (Coeur d’Alene, ID).
Preceded in death by husband “Monty” Lemont Leonard Phillips, mother Esther Mickey Hamby Simpson, father Moody Methuselah Simpson, sister Betty Lou Kojac and brother Don Simpson.
Barbara’s family thanks the amazing staff and neighbors of Remarkable HealthCare- Fort Worth. Barbara was known there as the “gazebo” lady for her enjoyment of time spent in the sun.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday January 8 at Greenwood Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Road (@ University Blvd.), Fort Worth, Texas, 76107.
