Grady Smithey Nominated for Texas Transportation Hall of Honor

smitheyDUNCANVILLE, TX – On November 9, 2016, Duncanville Mayor David Green nominated Grady W. Smithey for induction into the Texas Transportation Hall of Honor.
“He is well known throughout the State of Texas for his tireless advocacy of transportation projects,” said Green. “I was pleased to serve with him on the Duncanville City Council, three years as a councilman and six as mayor. With 22 years of service on the Duncanville City Council, Grady holds the record for our longest serving elected official.”
In January 2007, during the only TTC meeting ever held in Duncanville, TxDOT conferred the prestigious “Road Hand” award to Grady in recognition of his service.
In May 2013, Leadership Southwest recognized Grady as LSW Distinguished Alumni of the Year, and he was also named Distinguished Alumni for Duncanville High School in 2003. The Duncanville Chamber of Commerce selected Grady as “Man of the Year” in 1998.
On January 19, 2016, Dallas County formally recognized Grady Smithey’s contributions to transportation and the City of Duncanville by Resolution 2016-0047 which was signed by all the members of the Dallas County Commissioners Court.
