DUNCANVILLE, TX – First Presbyterian Church recently announced the results of its third annual fundraiser for Duncanville Outreach Ministry (DOM), Duncanville’s local emergency assistance agency. Each year First Presbyterian has set a goal of $50,000, in partnership with Anita Davis, Director of DOM, in order to increase awareness of the agency and invite public support from the community to provide help in times of crisis for people with limited resources. This year’s campaign raised $66,339.52. This generous result came from individuals, businesses, churches, and civic organizations from Duncanville and the surrounding areas.
“We exceeded our goal because of people who wanted to make a difference collectively, and we so appreciate the generosity of the people who gave,” said Pastor Ginger Hertenstein.
The funds raised will go to help citizens of Duncanville by providing holiday food baskets, help with past-due water bills, overdue rent, utilities, prescriptions, and other emergency needs.
First Presbyterian Church has been involved in the community by hosting the Festival of Hope, sponsoring the Duncanville Community Chorus, and leading a Community Conversation for leaders of Duncanville who desire to work toward rebuilding Duncanville. They hope to continue to develop this effort as neighbors helping neighbors for the goodwill of Duncanville.
