DUNCANVILLE, TX – This week, Duncanville ISD welcomes home five people who excelled in their respective athletic fields, and will receive special recognition as they are inducted into the Duncanville ISD Athletic Hall of Honor. The ceremony will be held Thursday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Duncanville High School’s Shine Performance Hall. The 2015 Athletic Hall of Honor inductees include – Bill Fahey, one of the original members of the 1972 Texas Rangers baseball team; Brian Boddicker, a standout basketball player who achieved success at the University of Texas and overseas; Chris Hayden, a professional soccer player coaching the next generation of players; Jalie Mitchell, a basketball star with standout records on the high school and collegiate level who now coaches at her alma mater, the University of North Texas; and Martin Piller, a golf pro using his sports platform to share his faith.
As the Texas Rangers vie for another shot at the World Series this week, it’s appropriate that one of the Arlington team’s first players is inducted into the Duncanville ISD Athletic Hall of Honor. Bill Fahey was a first round pick by the Washington Senators in the 1970 Major League Baseball draft. Fahey spent six years with the Texas Rangers and went on to play for the San Diego Padres and the Detroit Tigers.
All five of the outstanding individuals being recognized this week have been tireless advocates for youth sports in Duncanville. They were nominated by community members and chosen by a selection committee. The Duncanville ISD Athletic Hall of Honor was established to celebrate excellence and salute the contributions of individuals whose advancement of athletics in Duncanville ISD and beyond has made a profound difference in the lives of our young people.
