LANCASTER, TX – The Southwest Dallas County Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is sponsoring Expanding Your Horizons (EYH), a career day conference for girls of grades 6, 7, and 8 on Saturday morning March 2, 2013 at Cedar Valley College, Lancaster.
This conference provides the girls with the opportunity to meet with women who are working in occupations that use math and science and to participate in hands-on workshops related to those occupations. No previous knowledge is required so it is a wonderful opportunity for the girls to learn about interesting career fields.
Girls are pre-assigned to their workshops and thus advance registration is required. The registration deadline is February 26 and the registration fee is $4. Workshop descriptions and registration forms are available online at www.EYH.AAUW-SWDC.org.
There will be a separate free program for adults. This year the adult program is Las Llaves del Exito / The Keys to Success. This bilingual program is organized by the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD). Adults who are bringing girls to the EYH program can register on the same form as the girls and just indicate if they need use of the headsets for the Spanish translation.
If you have any questions, call 972-709-1957 or email penny@acm.org (please indicate EYH as your subject).
