At this time, the Duncanville Christmas Parade is planned to proceed on Friday at 7pm. A majority of the post activities/tree lighting ceremonies are planned to take place in Downtown D’ville at the conclusion of the parade. The City & Lions Club will both be working hard to put on another successful event and they were very pleased with the success of the new route through Davis Street last year. Anyway, this is an outstanding opportunity to highlight the Downtown district to residents of D’ville and our surrounding communities. Amy (the parks & rec superintendent) should have been in touch with most of the businesses down our stretch and I’ll be working on a flier and sending an email & posting on our social media sights about all the post activities.
Of course, there is a threat of bad weather on Friday… so we’ll all be watching that closely. A decision will be made on Friday at 10am by the city if the parade needs to be canceled or not. Amy will be letting us know by noon if they are canceling the parade due to inclement weather. If the event is canceled on Friday, the tree lighting will be rescheduled for Monday (12/9) at 7pm. The revised event only includes the tree lighting and no parade / post activities will take place on that Monday.
