Dr Ray to Step Down as Duncanville ISD Superintendent

DUNCANVILLE, TX – Dr. Alfred Ray will step down as Duncanville ISD’s superintendent as of June 30, 2015 according to a April 28th press release issued by the school district.
Dr. Ray, who joined the district in July 2007 as Duncanville’s eleventh superintendent, announced his retirement citing his desire to spend more time with his family.
As of July 1, 2015, Dr. Ray will assume the role of Chief Special Projects Officer, and will be responsible for overseeing and managing the district’s 102.545 million dollar bond program. The bond was passed last November by 64 percent of Duncanville voters.
The Board of Trustees expressed its sincere appreciation of Dr. Ray’s efforts while serving as Superintendent of the DUncanville ISD. They also recognized Dr. Ray’s many achievements and accomplishments during his tenure and distinguished career as an employee of the district.
As part of the district’s leadership transition plan, the Board of Trustees welcomed Dr. Deborah Cron as Duncanville ISD’s new Assistant Superintendent for Personnel. She began this role in early May. Dr. Cron retired from Weatherford ISD in 2011 where she served as superintendent for ten years. Prior to Weatherford, her career in education spanned twenty-nine years in Garland ISD as an English teacher, high school assistant principal, Director of Communications and Assistant Superintendent for Education Operations.
The Board has authorized Dr. Cron as the interim superintendent starting July 1st, and will begin its search for a permanent superintendent.
