2014 Garcia Charitable Contribution CeremonyDALLAS, TX — Standing with representatives from local non-profit organizations, Dallas County Commissioner Elba Garcia announced today that she is donating over $12,000 of her salary as county commissioner to local charities.
Fulfilling her promise to donate a portion of her commissioner’s salary to charity, Commissioner Garcia announced the names of 20 local charities that will be receiving the gifts.
“I have made several pledges to the citizens of Dallas County. To bring more transparency to the Commissioners Court; to put agendas and video of the Court online; and to move important District 4 projects forward, “ Garcia said. “I have fulfilled these pledges and I am very proud of the progress we have made so far. But this is the promise that I am always happiest to be able to keep.” Commissioner Garcia also said that she hopes that everyone will join her in supporting these charities and the many other worthy organizations that help those in need throughout our community.
The donations for this year total $12,100. Representatives of the charities were grateful to receive the gifts and thanked the Commissioner for her support. This is the fourth year that Garcia has held this event.
