Solar Turbines, a Caterpillar Company with a DeSoto facility that produces turbine engines for the oil and gas industry, has been a district partner for several years. The partnership agreement includes facility job-shadowing, human resources soft skills training, and engineering guidance for the DeSolar Eagles solar car team. Solar Turbine engineers meet with the solar team to analyze and modify the car design for efficiency. DHS engineering instructor Tina Harris emphasized the value of their expertise for the students to elevate their skills.
